What is Avada plugin?
Avada is a premium WordPress theme developed by ThemeFusion and sold through ThemeForest. It is the highest-grossing WordPress theme ever sold, with over 900,000 purchases. Unlike lightweight themes such as Astra or GeneratePress, Avada ships with its own page builder – Fusion Builder – and a visual design panel called Fusion Core.
Avada is an all-in-one solution. A single ThemeForest purchase gives you the theme, a page builder, a library of pre-built website demos, and global design controls. This makes it fast to launch a site from a demo, but it also means the site depends heavily on Avada-specific components throughout.
Common uses include business sites, agency portfolios, WooCommerce stores, and projects where the client wants a visual builder without purchasing separate page builder licences. The main tradeoff is performance – Avada sites require active optimisation to load fast, unlike lightweight theme and builder combinations.

Common Problems & Fixes
My Avada site is very slow. How do I improve performance?
Avada generates significant CSS and JavaScript on every page. Start by enabling Avada built-in performance settings under Avada, then Performance Options. Turn on CSS and JavaScript combining, defer non-critical scripts, and enable lazy loading for images. Beyond Avada settings, use WP Rocket for caching, optimise all images to WebP, and use a CDN. Avada sites need more active performance work than lightweight theme and builder combinations.
Fusion Builder elements are not loading or showing blank in the editor.
This usually indicates a JavaScript conflict with another plugin or insufficient PHP memory. Increase PHP memory limit to at least 256MB in your wp-config.php file. Then deactivate all non-Avada plugins and test if the builder loads. Reactivate plugins one at a time to find the conflict. Also ensure you are using a supported browser – Fusion Builder does not fully support older browser versions.
Avada demo import is failing or stopping partway through.
Demo imports fail when server execution time limits are too short or upload limits are too small. Ask your host to increase max_execution_time to at least 300 seconds and upload_max_filesize to at least 64MB. On shared hosting, these limits are often too low for Avada demo imports. If the import still fails, try importing without demo content first, then import sliders, widgets, and settings separately.
Customization & Developer Notes
How do I change fonts globally across an Avada site?
Go to Avada, then Theme Options, then Typography. Avada has separate font controls for headings H1 through H6, body text, and menu items. You can set a Google Font, a system font, or upload a custom font file. Changes here apply globally. Individual Fusion Builder elements can override global typography through their own element settings if needed.
Can I use Avada with WooCommerce?
Yes. Avada includes dedicated WooCommerce support with custom product page layouts, cart and checkout styling, and shop archive customisation. Enable WooCommerce through the standard plugin installation, then configure Avada WooCommerce settings under Avada, then Theme Options, then WooCommerce. Avada also includes pre-built WooCommerce demo sites you can import as a starting point.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Avada still worth buying compared to Elementor or Bricks in 2025?
Avada is a legitimate choice when a single purchase covering both theme and page builder is preferred and performance is not the top priority. Elementor Pro with a lightweight theme like Astra is faster and more flexible but requires managing two separate tools and licences. Avada makes more sense for agencies building sites quickly from demos, or clients who want everything in one package. The key downside is that Avada sites need ongoing performance work that Elementor or Bricks sites typically do not.
Can I migrate an Avada site to Elementor or another builder later?
Not automatically. Avada content is stored in Fusion Builder proprietary shortcode format. Migrating to Elementor or Bricks requires rebuilding pages in the new builder – which is essentially a full site rebuild. Text content and images can be preserved, but all layout and design elements need to be recreated. Factor this into any decision to switch away from Avada after a site is built.
Does Avada work on shared hosting?
Avada runs on standard WordPress hosting including shared hosting, but it is resource-intensive. On low-resource shared hosting, the Fusion Builder editor can be slow and demo imports may fail due to execution time limits. A VPS or managed WordPress host like Kinsta, WP Engine, or SiteGround higher tiers gives a noticeably better experience for building and editing Avada sites.
How often does Avada release updates?
ThemeFusion releases Avada updates regularly – typically every few weeks for minor fixes and compatibility patches, with larger feature releases a few times per year. Updates are delivered through the standard WordPress update system once you connect your ThemeForest purchase code. Always back up before major version updates, as they occasionally introduce layout changes in Fusion Builder.
