Simply Schedule Appointments

SSA integrates tightly with the WordPress block editor (Gutenberg). The setup wizard is guided and straightforward. It has native Zoom and Google Meet integration for virtual appointments – booking automatically creates a meeting link and adds it to the confirmation email. Calendar sync with Google Calendar and Outlook is built into the free version, not an add-on.

Virtual Appointments

If your business primarily does video consultations (coaching, therapy, tutoring), SSA’s built-in Zoom and Google Meet integration is a significant practical advantage. The booking confirmation automatically includes a unique meeting link. LatePoint can achieve the same with add-ons and Zapier automation, but SSA handles it natively.

Which to Choose

Use LatePoint if: you have a physical service business with multiple service types, you care about booking form visual quality, or you need a polished customer-facing experience.

Use Simply Schedule Appointments if: you do virtual appointments via Zoom or Google Meet, you build primarily in the WordPress block editor, or you want Google Calendar sync included without an addon cost.

Handling Cancellations and No-Shows

Cancellation policies differ between the two. LatePoint’s customer cabinet lets clients cancel or reschedule up to a configurable time before the appointment – set the cancellation window in Settings. Late cancellations are flagged in the admin but not automatically charged (no built-in cancellation fee). For no-shows, LatePoint records the missed appointment in history.

SSA Plus lets customers cancel and reschedule through the confirmation email link. The cancellation window is configurable per appointment type. Neither plugin natively charges a cancellation fee – for businesses where no-show fees matter (fitness studios, medical clinics), integrate with Stripe’s uncaptured payment intent pattern: hold a card at booking and capture the full amount only if the customer does not cancel within the allowed window. This requires developer implementation regardless of which plugin you use.

Reporting and Business Insights

Both plugins provide basic appointment reports. LatePoint shows appointment counts by service, agent, and date range. SSA shows booking counts and basic statistics per appointment type. Neither provides revenue analytics at a level that replaces dedicated business reporting – for revenue tracking, use your payment gateway’s dashboard (Stripe, PayPal) alongside the booking plugin’s appointment data.

For businesses that need detailed reporting (booking conversion rates, peak demand times, staff utilisation), pull data from the plugin’s database tables using a reporting tool or export to a spreadsheet for analysis.
