Feedzy Feed-to-Post: Automating Content Import From RSS Feeds

The feed-to-post feature in Feedzy Pro converts RSS feed items into actual WordPress posts automatically. This is the core feature for content aggregation sites, news hubs, and anyone who wants to automate content from external sources into their WordPress content library.

How Feed-to-Post Works

Instead of displaying RSS feed content inline on a page, feed-to-post creates a real WordPress post for each feed item. The post exists in your database, can be categorised, tagged, and modified, and appears in your post archive and search results like any other post. Feedzy checks the feed on a schedule and creates new posts for new items automatically.

Setting Up Your First Import

  1. Go to Feedzy, then Import Posts, then Add New.
  2. Enter a name for this import job.
  3. Enter the RSS feed URL in the Feed URL field.
  4. Set Post Type — usually Post, but can be any registered custom post type.
  5. Set Post Status — Draft is safer during testing; change to Publish once you confirm the import is working correctly.
  6. Set Author — all imported posts will be attributed to this WordPress user.
  7. Set Category and Tags if needed.
  8. Under Scheduling, set how often Feedzy checks for new items — hourly, daily, or weekly.
  9. Save and run a manual import first to test.

Field Mapping

In the import settings, the Mapping section lets you control how feed fields map to post fields. Standard mapping:

  • Feed item title — Post title
  • Feed item content or description — Post content
  • Feed item date — Post date
  • Feed item author — can be ignored or mapped to a specific WordPress user
  • Feed item image — Featured image (Feedzy fetches and imports the image locally)

Duplicate Detection

Feedzy detects duplicates using the feed item GUID or URL to avoid creating the same post twice. If your feed source changes GUIDs between publishes (some feeds do), you may see duplicates. In the import settings, change the duplicate detection method from GUID to Title or URL. Title matching is less precise but more reliable for feeds with unstable GUIDs.

Keyword Filtering

Use keyword filters to import only items relevant to your topic. In the import settings under Filter, enter keywords that must appear in the item title or content for the item to be imported. You can also set exclude keywords to skip items containing specific terms. This keeps your imported content focused without importing every item from a broad feed.

AI Content Rewriting

Feedzy Pro integrates with the OpenAI API to rewrite or summarise imported content. In the import settings, connect your OpenAI API key and enable AI rewriting. Configure a prompt that tells the AI how to transform the content — summarise, rewrite in a different style, or expand with additional context. Each imported post is processed through the AI before being saved.

Keep in mind that AI rewriting uses OpenAI API tokens which have a per-usage cost separate from your Feedzy Pro licence. Monitor your OpenAI usage to avoid unexpected costs on high-volume imports.

Running a Manual Import to Test

Before enabling the schedule, run a manual import to verify the output. Go to the import job and click Run Import. Check the created posts: are titles correct, is content mapping correctly, are featured images importing, are duplicates being detected? Make any adjustments before enabling the schedule.

For content aggregation workflows involving multiple feeds, custom post types, and editorial review processes, a WordPress developer can build a complete automated content pipeline using Feedzy Pro.
